Maria Gary (1903-1992) war eine \u00f6stereichische Komponistin und Lyrikerin. Sie studierte Germanistik, Geschichte, Orgel und Komposition und schrieb mehr als 250 St\u00fccke f\u00fcr unterschiedlichste Besetzungen. Zahlreiche Werke wurden zu ihren Lebzeiten aufgef\u00fchrt und ihr gesamter musikalischer Nachlass befindet sich in der Musiksammlung der \u00d6sterreichischen Nationalbibliothek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich hatte die gro\u00dfe Ehre, sieben \u201ekleine\u201c Orgelst\u00fccke f\u00fcr den Certosa-Verlag zu sichten und an der Erstausgabe<\/a> mitzuwirken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die St\u00fccke sind zwar kurz, jeweils zwei Seiten und maximal 44 Takte lang, aber von \u201eklein\u201c kann eigentlich keine Rede sein, denn sie sind sehr reizvoll und eignen sich nicht nur f\u00fcr den Unterricht, sondern auch f\u00fcr Gottesdienste und Konzerte. F\u00fcnf St\u00fccke aus der Sammlung k\u00f6nnen manualiter gespielt werden. Zwei St\u00fccke werden mit Pedal gespielt. Eine gro\u00dfe Orgel ist nicht unbedingt n\u00f6tig, aber ein Schwellwerk ist hilfreich, um die vielen Lautst\u00e4rke\u00e4nderungen, die Maria Gary eingezeichnet hat, umsetzen zu k\u00f6nnen. Es ist dennoch m\u00f6glich, die St\u00fccke auch auf kleinen Instrumenten zu spielen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mir hat die Arbeit an der Erstausgabe sehr viel Freude gemacht, und ich spiele die St\u00fccke sehr gerne. Einen ersten Eindruck gibt es hier<\/a> mit der „Fuge nach einem Thema von Frescobaldi“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

F\u00fcr die Advents- und Weihnachtszeit empfiehlt sich der kleine Band mit drei weihnachtlichen Orgelst\u00fccken von Maria Gary, ebenfalls bei Certosa<\/a> erschienen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria Gary (1903-1992) was an Austrian composer and poet. She studied German lingustics and history, organ and composition and wrote more than 250 pieces for various settings. Numerous works were performed during her lifetime and she left her musical estate to the Austrian library\u2019s music collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had the honour to edit seven \u201elittle\u201c organ pieces for Certosa<\/a> and to contribute to the first edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pieces are short, 2 pages max, and not more than 44 bars, but not \u201esmall\u201c at all \u2013 in fact, the pieces are quite charming and delightful and suitable not only for teaching, but also for services and recitals. Five of the pieces can be played manuals-only and you\u2019ll need the pedals for two of the pieces. A large organ is nice, but you can play the pieces on organs of any size. However, to realise all the crescendi and decrescendi Maria Gary notated, you will need a swell box or crescendo pedal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a pleasure to work on this first edition and I love playing the pieces. A first impression with the „fugue on a theme by Frescobaldi“ can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
