\u00dcber Sammelb\u00e4nde habe ich ja schon das ein oder andere Mal geschrieben und es gibt daf\u00fcr auch eine eigene Kategorie<\/a> im Blog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

„The Oxford Book of Organ Music by Women Composers“, herausgegeben von Anne Marsden Thomas und Ghilsaine Reece-Trapp ist ebenso wie das Certosa-Orgelb\u00fcchlein<\/a> meiner Meinung nach ein Band, der in jedes Regal und auf jedes Notenpult geh\u00f6rt. Auf etwas mehr als 200 Seiten finden sich 42 Werke von Komponistinnen aus verschiedenen Epochen und L\u00e4ndern. Teilweise handelt es sich im Originalkompositionen f\u00fcr Orgel, teilweise um (sehr gut gemachte) Arrangements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besonders erw\u00e4hnenswert: sechs zeitgen\u00f6ssische Komponistinnen sind im Sammelband vertreten; und die St\u00fccke sind in Schwierigkeitsgrade eingeordnet und mit Zeitangaben zur Auff\u00fchrungsdauer versehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eine Inhaltsangabe<\/a> gibt es beim Verlag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dass die Herausgeberinnen selbst Organistinnen sind, ist dem Sammelband auf positive Weise anzumerken. F\u00fcr die meisten St\u00fccke ist eine zweimanualige Orgel absolut ausreichend und einige St\u00fccke lassen sich auch auf einmanualigen Instrumenten darstellen. Reine Manualiter-Werke sind ebenfalls enthalten, wenn auch nicht im Fokus der Sammlung. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In diesem Band ist sowohl f\u00fcr diejenigen, die sich mit dem Thema Orgelmusik von Komponistinnen bereits befasst haben, als auch f\u00fcr diejenigen, f\u00fcr die das Thema noch neu ist, etwas dabei. Amateur*innen wie Profis d\u00fcrfen sich gleicherma\u00dfen angesprochen f\u00fchlen und die St\u00fccke eignen sich f\u00fcr viele Gelegenheiten: Gottesdienst, Unterricht und Konzert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve already written several posts on organ music anthologies and collections<\/a>, and while I can’t recommend all of them, „The Oxford Book of Organ Music by Women Composers“, edited and compiled by Anne Marsden Thomas and Ghilsaine Reece-Trapp, is one of those collections that every organist should have on their shelves and music stand. On more than 200 pages you’ll find 42 compositions from various centuries and countries. Most pieces are original compositions for organ, others are (suitably and excellently) arranged for the instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s worth mentioning that works by six contemporary composers are included; plus the pieces are graded to the syllabus level of the ABRSM and duration times for performance have been given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes this collection stand out is that both editors are organists themselves. You can tell that they know the instrument and its capabilities. Most pieces can be played on a two-manual-organ and some pieces can even be played on one manual. There are a few manuals-only pieces, but that’s not the focus of the collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you’ve already gathered some knowledge on organ music by women composers or are fairly new to this topic, you will find a comprehensive and rich compilation in this book. Both amateurs and professionals are addressed and the pieces are suitable for many occasions: services, teaching and recitals. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
