She\u2019s the younger sister of <a href=\"https:\/\/aha-musik.de\/index.php\/2023\/04\/26\/ann-mounsey-bartholomew\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"143\">Ann Mounsey Bartholomew<\/a> and the sisters <a href=\"https:\/\/imslp.org\/wiki\/Sacred_Harmony_(Mounsey_Bartholomew%2C_Ann)\">wrote<\/a> harmonizations and interludes to psalm and hymn tunes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth wrote various pieces for organ. The \u201eVariations on an old Christmas carol\u201c can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/imslp.org\/wiki\/Variations_on_an_Old_Christmas_Carol_(Mounsey%2C_Elizabeth)\">IMSLP<\/a> and in the \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/aha-musik.de\/index.php\/2024\/06\/03\/sammelband-oxford-book-of-organ-music-by-women-composers\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"266\">Oxford Book of Organ Music by Women<\/a>\u201c. The old Christmas carol is &#8222;God rest ye merry gentlemen&#8220; and you need an organ with at least two manuals to do it justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her fugues in d minor and g minor can be played on smaller organs and are available from <a href=\"https:\/\/imslp.org\/wiki\/2_Fugues_(Mounsey%2C_Elizabeth)\">IMSLP<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth became organist of St Peter Upon Cornhill in London at the age of 14 and held this post until 1882 &#8211; she resigned due to health issues. Elizabeth became deaf.
